I believe that passage was taken out of "Bad Moon Rising," the unofficial biography of the band. I read the same thing in the pages of that book.
"Wrote a Song For Everyone" is such a gorgeous representation of what would be better classified as a calm, melodic ballad than their regular swampy sound. I absolutely love it and have since I first heard it. I wish John would have played it when I saw him in February.
I have a shirt with the photograph on the inside of Pendulum on it and it says "John Fogerty - Wrote a Song for Everyone."
