Band's name?!

Does anybody know why the band is called Creedence Clearwater Revival? What do these words mean?

It was a guy's name, although it came initially from a beer commerical, but goes with ...the burgeoning environmental movement of the time. Revival = aspiration. After four years as the Golliwogs and 10 years playing together they wanted a revival!

'Creedence' was the name of a friend of Tom Fogerty--Creedence Nuball. 'Clearwater' came from an Olympia Beer commercial. And 'Revival' was because the band had revived itself. Also, revivals are are a kind of party in the southern US.
