feud?....Is it true that for a few years before Tom's death, that the two brothers did not speak ?

Yes, it is. I wish it wasn't, because this is very sad. But, (...a big sigh), it is. John refused to speak to the other bandmembers, including his brother Tom, and when Tom layed on his deathbed, Stu and Doug had to persuade John to go and see him before he left. Why John didn't speak to them? That is a long and complicated story, but you can find some of the answers on this site, under "History" on the mainpage. If you want the whole story you should read "Bad Moon Rising" by Hank Bordowitz.

You know they say blood is thicker than water, but my God, you would think that John and Tom would have put their professional lives away and just be brothers. This goes to show that we shouldn't wait to bury the hatchet with some one. I wonder how the four of the got together on Tom's Zephyr National album since the wounds were fresh.

Unfortunately, John didn't stick around for the better follow-up album, Myopia, though Doug and Stu did.
