Default What Did Other Artists Think of CCR?

I heard Janis Joplin was a fan of Creedence. I wonder what other singers and musicians were/are fans of them? Did traditional Blues artists appreciate CCR's Blues jams?

Well booker T and the mg's appreciate ccr obviously and so does the 'dead (booker t and ccr were like a double act in 1970, booker t played the opening act at "The Concert")

and well the dead were around fogerty and ccr since the beginning of time, and they still poke fun at each other (friendly always).

Well, Proud Mary was Bob Dylan's favorite single from 1969 and Roger Daltrey of The Who really enjoyed watching them at Woodstock. He now even plays Born On The Bayou at solo concerts!
And of course Bruce Springsteen is a huge CCR/Fogerty fan, playing concerts with him and even making a guest appearance on John's last album. Kurt Cobain of Nirvana was in a CCR coverband before he became famous.

So, The Grateful Dead, Daltrey and Cobain. That's very cool.

On a side note...not that he's a musician...I know Jeff Bridges is a HUGE Creedence fan. Not just because he was "the Dude" but he said so when he was hosting a show about the greatest rock bands of all time.

Both Janis and Grace Slick were known to dig CCr...and so did Ronnie van Zandt (LS) and Johnny Winter
