The name Jody appears in several Fogerty songs:
It came out of the sky ("Jody fell off of his tractor...") Hey tonight ("Jody's gonna get religion...") Almost Saturday Night ("Jody's gone to the rodeo...") Any idea who Jody was? An imaginary figure? Someone from John's life? ![]() |

John Fogerty was in the army in his earlier years. It was common that when army units went on marches and such to chant and a common name they used in those chants was Jody. So Fogerty was just referring to that.

Did you read that in an interview with Fogerty somewhere? Or do you know that based on your own military experience?
