This song has nothing to do with rain, I've heard that it's about the vietnam-war, bombs and acidrain, 5 years plans and new deals ... 5 years of war, Who'll stop the rain (bombs).
Right?

IMHO, if it is not about the war, it should have been be about it...

Five year plans was what they had in the soviet, and new deal were what the US president thought would fix the economy after the crash on wall street before the WW2

It's about global warming and how the weather is goofed up. "...comin' down on a sunny day..." and how President Johnson was planning to fix it, his wife started the ecology thing with keep America beautiful...and it would take five years to straighten things out with the plan but then Martin Luther King got killed

I think it's a kind of claim, I think John tried to say "Hey, please stop fighting, stop this storm"
I'm not American so I don't know many thing about American history, but we all know the Vietnam War, the New Deal, etc.
I think it was dedicated to those people in the Vietnam War, but for me it could be also for all the Wars around the World.
What kind of song would John write for our actual world? Who'll stop the rain is almost a hymn.

Still the rain keep pourin', And we all still wonder Who'll stop the rain?

I am soooo sorry!!! I was thinking of Have You Ever Seen The Rain not Who'll Stop The Rain. I am very sorry for the confusion and the mixup but Who'll Stop The Rain is NOT about the break up of Creedence. Who'll Stop The Rain is very much so a political song. If you want to know what John has to say about Have You Ever Seen The Rain I posted a article on this forum. It is very interesting and I hope you check it out. I believe it is under a post called 'Looking Out My Backdoor'. If you do check it out I hope you enjoy it!! I hope you have a nice day and ROCK ON!!!

I was at the Fogerty concert about a month ago at the Hollywood Bowl, and before he played Who'll stop the rain he said that he was at Woodstock, and he wrote the song on his way hitchicking home. Just for reference, it rained like crazy one of the days at Woodstock, hence the third verse "heard the singer playing, how we cheared for more..."
