I have a theory here: The Fogerty name is Irish (from the Irish word "f?gartha" which means banished or outlawed), and the Fogerty boys had a Catholic upbringing, so is it possible that the Fogerty familiy was Irish, or of Irish descent? What do you guys think?

Sure its possible. You know, Elvis was Scottish. Infact, they traced his relitives back to a man named Andrew Presley in a tiny little vilage in Scottland. He was also Jewish too. I hope you have a nice day and ROCK ON!!!

I didn't know that! I've heard that Elvis' great-great something grandmother was a cherokee, also. About the Fogertys, I just wondered if it could be that way since they were Catholic, and that is not that common for "americans", is it? Well, well, it is really not important whether they are Irish or Chinese or whatever!

Well actually it is pretty common for Americans to be Catholic. Though I am not a Catholic. I have lots of friends that are though. And you know what you are right! It doenst matter what race they are! They still sound and look great! I hope you have a nice day and ROCK ON!!!

Ok, I have to admit I am not to familiar with the American culture, so... I know there is no state religion in America, but I thought most people were protestants. You're right, it doesn't matter AT ALL what race they are! They sound and look great anyway!

of course he is irish! i live here and there are fogerty's and fogarty's everywhere! don;t think it means outlaw though.. T

Well, then I am pretty sure that some of his ancestors are irish, at least! On Wikipedia it said that the Fogerty name came from the word "f?gartha", and that it meant banished or outlawed. If that is right or not I can't say, since I'm not irish. But I'm sure most Fogerty's are nice people.....

yes, john fogerty is of irish descent as i read some book years ago about the ancestry of famous people and he was mentioned in there.
