Walk on Water song

Does anyone know what the meaning of this song is? I just listened to it for the first time and it really freaked me out.

Late last night, I went for a walk,
Down by the river near my home.
Couldn't believe, with my own eyes,
And I swear I'll never leave my home again.
I saw a man walking on the water.
Coming right at me from the other side.
Calling out my name; Do not be afraid.
Feet begin to run, pounding in my brain;
I don't want to go; I don't want to go.
No, no, no, no, no...
I don't want to go.
Mmmmmmm...

I never realized how freaky the lyrics were.

The start of a series of songs about Hoodoos, bad moons, old men down the road, and zombies.

walking on the water

Hi!
I'm pretty sure this song refers to the "death"
The man who walks on the water is for sure the Death looking for the man who went for a walk.
I don't want to go is i don't want to die!:nea1:
Don't you believe?

That would make sense. When I first heard the song I assumed that is was just some sort of ghost. This seems more logical after seeing him saying
"I don't want to go; I don't want to go.
No, no, no, no, no...
I don't want to go.".

In the Bible Jesus walked on the water and told his disciples not to be afraid and since God knows your name, maybe he was inspired by that?
